I’m William Moran, a registered marriage celebrant based in Tasmania’s West Tamar Valley. I marry couples across the valley, Launceston and the rest of the state – from legals-only ceremonies for two, to full weddings for a hundred and fifty guests.

Are you thinking about venturing over from the mainland for a destination wedding here in Tassie? I am more than happy to suggest other wedding service providers.
I’ve been an authorised marriage celebrant since 2013, first across South East Queensland & Northern New South Wales, now based in the West Tamar Valley. I offer three customisable styles of ceremony:
- Legals Only. Just the two of you with your two chosen witnesses.
- An Intimate Ceremony/Elopement. Shared with close family & friends.
- A Full-On wedding aligned with your creativity and ideas.
Two things matter equally. There is no room for error on the required paperwork and documents, so I can successfully lodge it with Births, Deaths, & Marriages to register your nuptials.
Check here Get Married. This lists all Commonwealth registered Celebrants with a detailed guide, and updates to The Marriage Act 1961. Most significantly, changes to the Act in 2018 to include same sex couples of the LGBTQIA+ community. Notice of Intended Marriage form (NOIM) can be downloaded here. The NOIM form must be completed by all parties at least 1 month prior to your wedding.
The ceremony has to be a reflection of you both, not something generated by AI. We can work on that together.

The West Tamar Valley
A valley that does half the work for you
Thirty minutes north of Launceston Airport, the road follows kanamaluka, the Tamar River, all the way to Bass Strait. Vineyards on the hillsides, fern gullies behind them, jetties and beaches at the end.
Rosevears and Gravelly Beach
Cellar doors along the Tamar Valley Wine Route, most of them looking straight down the river. Ceremony on the lawn, reception through the doors behind you.
Small to full weddings
Brady's Lookout
A short walk from the car park to one of the best outlooks in the valley. Public, free, and hard to beat when it’s just the two of you and two witnesses.
Elopements and legals only
Beauty Point and Greens Beach
Working jetties, moored boats and open water where the river meets the strait. The far end of the valley, and the one couples usually don’t expect.
Coastal ceremonies
Notley Fern Gorge
Old-growth man ferns and myrtle in a gully off the Bass Highway. Sheltered, shady and completely unlike anywhere on the mainland.
Intimate and rain-proof
Deviot and Batman Bridge
The A-frame bridge across the river makes a backdrop nobody else has. Plenty of private properties and shacks along this stretch.
Something different
Launceston and Cataract Gorge
If your guests want restaurants, hotels and a gorge in the middle of the city, Launceston is close enough to use as your base for the whole weekend.

What kind of ceremony are you actually after?
Named after coffee because that’s usually where the first conversation happens. Every package includes the legal paperwork, lodged and checked. The difference is how much ceremony sits on top of it.

If you are more of an Iced Latte or Irish Coffee couple, we can make an unconventional or themed wedding fun, vibrant & colourful.

Two rings, four colours, one knot. That’s the mark I’ve used since the beginning and it means exactly what it looks like. Same-sex couples, couples of any gender identity, second marriages, interfaith and intercultural weddings, and commitment ceremonies for anyone who wants one.

Warm, organised, and on time
We live in a diverse and equal society. Any cultural rights, multicultural contributions, or the place of the arts in culture that you’d like included in your ceremony — as your celebrant I’ll be respectful of your request, and will do my utmost to support any appropriate ideas within your ceremony.
I’d rather over-prepare than wing it. You’ll get drafts to read, a clear run sheet, and a celebrant who has already spoken to your venue about where the sun will be at four o’clock.
